Hi, I'm Jeremy Liew

Board Member and recovering Venture Capitalist

About Me

About Me

Jeremy Liew was a longtime partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, where he became known for making the initial investments in Snapchat and Affirm. He led investments in 75 other companies across social media (Cheddar, Giphy, HQ Trivia), ecommerce (Arena Club, Bonobos, Honeylove, HungryRoot, Rothys, The Honest Company) and fintech & crypto (Blockchain.com, Brigit, Ripple, Wintermute). His track record earned him a spot on the Forbes Midas List nine times.

Born in Singapore and raised in Perth, Australia, Jeremy represented Australia in the 1988 International Math Olympiad alongside his far smarter teammate, Terry Tao. This experience convinced him that he was not cut out to be a professional mathematician. He spent the 1990s and early 2000s working for pioneering internet companies including Netscape, AOL, IAC and CitySearch before joining Lightspeed in 2006 as the firm's first consumer specialist. In 2021, he stepped back from leading new investments, though he remains on the board of his portfolio companies.

Jeremy lives in the Bay Area with his family. Beyond venture capital, he has an interest in making San Francisco a better place to live, work and raise a family. He was a founding trustee of Presidio Knolls School, a Mandarin-immersion PreK-8 school in San Francisco, and currently sits on the boards of the San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund and Terner Labs at UC Berkeley, which focuses on housing innovation. He has recently developed an interest in learning movement, tai chi and contemporary dance.
